About Michelle

I love words. Since 2005, I have worked as a professional writer and content manager, and I am now Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Washington & Lee University. My scholarly interests focus on mental health in the workplace, self-persuasion in chronic illness and mental illness, addiction and eating disorder recovery narratives, assessment in the workplace and in writing classrooms, and boundary/identity negotiation in rhetorics of science and religion.

In my professional life, I have worked as a writer and editor at both large and small organizations (NASA to nonprofit to Fortune 500), managed teams of creatives and developers, and taught writing at the college level. I regularly consult with companies developing web content and information architectures and love conducting training in writing and usability. I have specific training in search engine optimization (SEO), user experience, and process management.

The content we put into the world reflects who we are, what our businesses are about, and what we want for our society. My goal in every project is to help clients and budding writers accurately communicate what they intend to the people who need the information most.
